The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has issued a news release stating that Donte Lamont Brown, a suspect in the double homicide of his estranged girlfriend and her daughter in Compton, California, is currently evading authorities. The victims, Tameeka “La’von” Hall, 45, and Ma’Laysia “Lay Lay” Martin, 22, were fatally shot by Brown, who is considered armed and dangerous.
The incident occurred when Brown approached Hall and Martin’s vehicle at a red light, firing shots that resulted in their deaths. After the shooting, Brown fled the scene in a driverless vehicle, which later crashed into a traffic signal pole.
Responding to a shooting call, deputies found Hall and Martin with gunshot wounds, both pronounced deceased by the Compton Fire Department. The community expressed shock and sorrow over the tragic events, with witnesses and officials condemning the violence.
Family members created a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral expenses, highlighting the loving bond between the victims. The authorities and relevant departments did not provide additional comments on the case.
