However, her shock was palpable when Beehler later called her, revealing that he was in fact alive. Shawn Wells, David Wells’ son, was left reeling from the news of his father’s death and the subsequent misidentification. The hospital, PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, has acknowledged the need to enhance patient identification processes and has cooperated with healthcare agencies to prevent such errors in the future.
