Sophia Hutchins, a close friend and manager of Caitlyn Jenner, tragically passed away on July 2 after being involved in an ATV accident. A recent death certificate obtained by PEOPLE reveals that Hutchins is scheduled to be laid to rest in Los Angeles on July 24. The cause of her death remains pending as authorities continue to investigate the incident.
Hutchins, 29, was the CEO and director of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation. She was driving an ATV near Jenner’s Malibu residence when she collided with a moving vehicle and ultimately veered off the road, falling 350 feet into a ravine. Despite efforts to recover her body, Hutchins was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger in the other vehicle were unharmed, and Jenner was present at the accident site.
Authorities suspect that Hutchins was traveling at high speed when she rear-ended the vehicle and lost control. The investigation is ongoing as they gather more information about the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident.
The founder and CEO of the health technology company LUMASOL and Jenner first met in 2015 when the TV personality announced her transition. They quickly formed a strong bond, with Hutchins, a graduate of Pepperdine University, later commending Jenner for encouraging her personal growth. Hutchins then made appearances in several episodes of Jenner’s former E! reality series, I Am Cait. In an interview with The Hidden Truth with Jim Breslo, the Washington native shared, “We have a lot in common; we share similar worldviews and complement each other well by challenging one another. She has pushed me to grow in various ways, and I hope to do the same for her. With our aligned passions and perspectives, it’s a fantastic partnership.” Stay updated on the latest from PEOPLE by subscribing to their free daily newsletter for a mix of celebrity news and captivating human interest stories.
