Her family shared the news of her death on her Instagram Stories on April 10, stating, “I regret to inform you that Lucy has passed.” The family mentioned that Lucy was at peace and surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing. They requested privacy during this difficult time and expressed their hope that Lucy may rest in peace.
In 2015, Markovic was the runner-up in Season 9 of Australia’s Next Top Model and went on to have a successful modeling career, working with renowned brands such as Armani, Versace, and Victoria Beckham. While the cause of her death was not disclosed by her family, it was known that Lucy had shared the need for surgery in March to address an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) the size of a golf ball.
Following her passing, Markovic’s New York City agency, Elite Model Management, paid tribute to her on Instagram, describing her as a bright, humorous, and warm individual who brought elegance and beauty to her work. Donatella Versace also expressed her condolences for Lucy’s untimely death, remembering her as a beautiful girl.
