NEW ALBANY, Ohio (AP) — Another employee has tragically lost their life as a result of a shooting at a warehouse in Ohio, police disclosed on Thursday. Additionally, four other workers are currently in the hospital, while the colleague accused of the violent attack is set to appear in court. The authorities in New Albany, situated about 15 miles (24 kilometers) northeast of downtown Columbus, have not provided further information regarding the second fatality or the status of the injured individuals following the shooting that took place on Tuesday. Sadly, one employee was already deceased inside the building.
Bruce Reginald Foster III, aged 28, is scheduled for an arraignment on Thursday, as announced by New Albany Police Chief Greg Jones during a news briefing on Wednesday. “He has cooperated with investigators to some extent,” Jones stated. “However, I would not characterize his level of cooperation as complete.” As of Thursday morning, there was no defense attorney listed in online court records for the aggravated murder charge against Foster in Licking County. Moreover, two potential phone numbers for Foster or a family member were found to be inactive on Wednesday.
In response to a report of gunshots at the industrial park business in New Albany on Tuesday evening, law enforcement officers just missed apprehending Foster as he departed the scene using a rideshare service, according to Jones. Multiple teams of police, supported by drones and a K-9 unit, scoured the premises in search of the suspect. “Preliminary findings suggest that there was some form of interaction between a victim and the shooter,” Jones explained. “However, the exact nature of this interaction remains unclear at this point.”
Foster was eventually located at an apartment in Columbus and taken into custody on Wednesday morning. Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Dan Deville disclosed that a stun gun was employed to subdue Foster, who had initially refused to surrender. The tragic incident occurred at a warehouse belonging to a company that specializes in the production of beauty and personal care products. Approximately 150 employees who were inside the facility at the time of the shooting were safely evacuated to a nearby building.
“No reports had been made indicating any conflicts or issues the perpetrator may have been experiencing at work,” Jones remarked.
