Tragic Break-In Disrupts Family’s Peaceful Life in Los Angeles Area

Law enforcement is on the hunt for an individual who entered a house in Arcadia, just east of Pasadena, and fatally shot a father in front of his wife and son, authorities reported. The victim, aged 61, was assaulted around 6:26 p.m. on Tuesday at his residence. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, the intruder forced the father’s wife and 13-year-old son into the home upon their arrival in the driveway. A confrontation transpired between the intruder and the father, as recounted by Sheriff’s Lt. Steven De Jong to KABC, Los Angeles’s ABC station.
The circumstances surrounding whether the boy and his mother witnessed the shooting remain unclear, but De Jong described the ordeal as deeply distressing for the entire family. The son promptly dialed 911 to report the intrusion and the shooting of his father. The motivation behind the attack remains unknown, though De Jong suggested a possible personal motive based on preliminary assessments of the crime scene.
De Jong noted that the intruder targeted the male victim upon entering the house. While a few weapons were found at the residence, it remains uncertain if they belonged to the suspect or the family. De Jong speculated that the father might have armed himself in an attempt to defend against the attacker. No suspects have been apprehended as per the sheriff’s office.
Individuals possessing relevant information are urged to contact the sheriff’s homicide bureau at 323-890-5500.
