Levi Williams, a 25-year-old resident of Holland Park in Newmarket, has been charged with murder in connection to the death of Neil Mackay. The incident occurred following a town centre altercation involving four individuals on Newmarket High Street at 3:30 pm on Saturday, March 8. Two men were hospitalized as a result, with one of them, a 71-year-old, passing away at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge on Tuesday. Williams has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. Additionally, a 23-year-old man arrested for assault causing grievous bodily harm and a 45-year-old man arrested for affray are currently on police bail.
