Toronto Pub Shooting Leaves Twelve Injured!

According to Toronto police, a shooting at a pub in Scarborough resulted in injuries to 12 people, with six sustaining gunshot wounds and others injured by shattered glass. The incident occurred on Friday local time near the city center. Three suspects armed with an assault rifle and handguns entered the pub and opened fire indiscriminately, causing chaos and panic among patrons. Although the injuries were not life-threatening, the violence has deeply impacted the community and city.

Law enforcement officials are actively pursuing leads to determine the motive behind the shooting. One suspect, wearing a black balaclava, was spotted fleeing the scene in a silver car. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, a fact that Police Supt Paul MacIntyre described as extremely fortunate. The victims, ranging in age from their 20s to mid-50s, are currently receiving medical attention.

Mayor Olivia Chow expressed concern over the incident and assured the public that authorities are diligently investigating the matter. The number of injuries in this shooting is higher compared to similar incidents in the area in recent years. Despite being located in a city with a population of three million, Toronto has seen a significant decrease in firearm-related homicides compared to the United States, with data showing a lower rate of 0.6 per 100,000 people in Canada in 2021.
