Tony Gonsolin and Freddie Freeman’s Dynamic Duo Dominates Diamondbacks!

In Phoenix, Tony Gonsolin threw five scoreless innings and Freddie Freeman hit a home run on a perfect 4-for-4 day, propelling the Los Angeles Dodgers to an 8-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Mookie Betts also went deep for the Dodgers, who tallied 18 hits to secure a split series with their NL West rivals. With San Diego’s loss to Colorado, the Dodgers reclaimed the division lead by one game.

Gonsolin, in his third start since returning from Tommy John surgery, earned the win by pitching efficiently, allowing no runs on 84 pitches with four strikeouts. Freeman continued his stellar season, boosting his batting average to .376 and contributing with doubles, a sacrifice fly, and a home run. Betts also added a homer to the tally.

Arizona’s Zac Gallen struggled, giving up 10 hits and four runs in 5 1/3 innings. The Diamondbacks’ José Herrera managed to score a run off Dodgers’ reliever Ben Casparius.

A key moment came when Will Smith’s RBI single extended the Dodgers’ lead to 3-0 in the fourth inning. Meanwhile, reliever José Castillo made headlines for three balks in just two innings.

The Dodgers will host the Athletics next, with Landon Knack set to start against Jeffrey Springs. The Diamondbacks will face the Giants, with Merrill Kelly taking on Justin Verlander.
