While Doran hasn’t returned to the area herself, messages from friends and neighbors have conveyed that the entire neighborhood has been decimated. “All 15 of my friends that I texted are all houseless,” Doran lamented. “All of their parents’ houses burned. I have a couple friends, families who had their electric bikes… our street is, there is just nothing to go back to.”
Family safe, uncertain about the future
The Doran family, accompanied by Tiptoe and other pets, have found refuge at Doran’s Marina Del Rey residence. Doran disclosed that the landlady for the home enlisted workers from other renovation projects to construct a new abode for Tiptoe within their current residence. Despite the upheaval, the family currently has no concrete plans but is aware that they will eventually need to consolidate living arrangements. “Someone’s going to live with grandma and grandpa,” Doran shared. “They don’t have a toothbrush. They don’t have anything.”
Doran also mentioned that Tiptoe appeared disoriented by the sudden relocation, stating, “He’s a little bit in his shell but he ate yesterday.”
