It will be another three to four weeks before the autopsy report is completed for the 27-year-old Telemundo reporter discovered deceased in his New Orleans hotel room, as per the authorities on Saturday. This revelation surfaced the day following the arrest of a woman with a known history of drugging and robbing men, who was apprehended in connection to the perplexing death of the reporter.
Danette Colbert, a 48-year-old career criminal hailing from nearby Slidell, was taken into custody after surveillance footage captured her exiting Adan Manzano’s hotel room before allegedly using his credit card at various stores within the city of New Orleans, where the journalist was on assignment covering the Super Bowl, revealed the Kenner, Louisiana police department.
Deputy Chief Mark McCormick stated to The Post on Saturday that the investigation is contingent upon the toxicology reports from the coroner. “Everything relies on that crucial detail,” he emphasized. “Until we receive that vital information, there will be no grounds for pursuing more serious charges against Danette Colbert.” Presently, she faces charges related to property crimes, such as bank fraud and theft. However, she has been previously linked to incidents involving drugging men and subsequently exploiting their credit cards, according to Kenner police.
Further charges against Danette Colbert may ensue once the toxicology results of Adan Manzano are disclosed by the authorities. The Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office is currently conducting toxicology analyses to ascertain if Manzano was subjected to any form of drugging, as the police mentioned that there were no apparent signs of physical trauma on his body.
Colbert, dubbed as “the Hustler of Bourbon Street,” was observed in the surveillance footage departing Manzano’s hotel room in Kenner before embarking on the alleged shopping spree, as stated by the police. The footage indicated that Colbert and Manzano arrived at the hotel room in Kenner around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, after which Colbert was seen exiting alone a short while later, stated McCormick earlier during the week.
The tragic discovery of Manzano’s lifeless body occurred approximately 12 hours later when hotel staff conducted a wellness check due to his absence at a scheduled morning engagement, McCormick conveyed. The untimely demise of Adan Manzano, a native of Topeka, Kansas, comes just several months following the fatal accident that claimed the life of his 24-year-old wife, Ashleigh Boyd, in Topeka. Regrettably, their young daughter is now left orphaned.
McCormick mentioned that he lacked information concerning the child’s well-being, and efforts to reach both Manzano’s mother and Ashley Boyd’s mother for comments were unfruitful on Saturday. When contacted by The Post, Colbert’s cousin, Kenneth Colbert of Memphis, described her as a “loving mother and grandmother,” refraining from making any negative remarks about
