The Edge of U2 From Rock Legend to Irish Citizen at Last!

U2 guitarist The Edge, whose real name is David Howell Evans, recently became an Irish citizen after living in Ireland for 62 years. The musician, now 63, jokingly mentioned he was a bit late with the paperwork but expressed pride and gratitude for his new citizenship during a ceremony in County Kerry. The Edge, who moved to Ireland at the age of 1, praised the country for its leadership and values, especially during current global challenges. Becoming a citizen, alongside thousands of others, was described as a significant and meaningful moment for him. Despite not all members of U2 being born in Ireland, the band has been active in addressing political issues through their music, including the iconic song “Sunday Bloody Sunday.”
