Natalie Sorrells, 46, has been sentenced to five years in prison for two counts of indecent sexual contact with a minor. She was found guilty by a jury for allegedly molesting her son’s 13-year-old friend on multiple occasions, including at a party and while driving the boy home after a football game. The jury acquitted Sorrells on two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, which could have resulted in a minimum 25-year prison sentence.
Sorrells, a former youth ministry volunteer at Lakepointe Church in Texas, was arrested and charged after the victim’s mother discovered deleted text messages. The victim revealed that Sorrells had been molesting him for over a year. Charges were filed in September 2024, and Sorrells was taken into custody in February 2025. She posted bail but is now in custody awaiting her prison assignment.
Sorrells was sentenced to 30 months for each count, to be served consecutively. The jury also found her not guilty on the aggravated sexual assault charges. If convicted on those counts, Sorrells could have faced a minimum 25-year sentence due to the victim’s age and allegations of supplying him with alcohol.
Following her conviction, a protective order request was filed against Sorrells under the pseudonym Arthur Stevens. A hearing on the order is scheduled for May 22. Lakepointe Church, where Sorrells volunteered, released a statement affirming that no inappropriate activity occurred on church premises.
Following an incident at a church event involving a minor who was not directly supervised by the volunteer, as a precautionary measure, we promptly notified parents at Lakepointe, prohibited the volunteer from interacting with minors at the church, and relieved her of her volunteer duties. A representative for Sorrells did not provide a comment in response to a request.
