A Tesla logo was spotted at a charging station in Las Vegas early Tuesday, where a suspect armed with a gun and Molotov cocktails carried out a “targeted attack” on the Tesla location. The individual spray painted “resist,” fired three shots, and set multiple cars on fire, according to authorities.
The incident occurred at the Tesla Collision Center on Badura Ave. at 2:45 a.m., marking the latest violent event involving property associated with Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla and adviser to President Donald Trump. LVMPD Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren informed reporters that the attack was directed specifically at the Tesla facility and is believed to be isolated with no further threat to the public.
The suspect, dressed in all black, used Molotov cocktails and a firearm during the attack, damaging at least five Tesla vehicles, two of which were set ablaze. The assailant also fired three rounds into different cars and left an un-ignited Molotov cocktail at the scene. The word “RESIST” was painted in red on the doors of the center.
Musk has been actively involved in reducing federal programs with his Department of Government Efficiency, a move that has coincided with a series of vandalism incidents targeting Tesla properties nationally. FBI Special Agent Spencer Evans condemned the violent act, stating that such behavior is unacceptable and will be pursued as a federal crime.
