Taylor Swift, Blake Lively, and Justin Baldoni are caught up in a legal battle. Swift has been called as a witness in the feud between her It Ends With Us co-stars Lively and Baldoni. A representative for Swift is criticizing the move, labeling it as an attempt to generate sensational headlines rather than focusing on the actual case details.
According to Swift’s spokesperson, the pop star had minimal involvement in the film, only licensing her song “My Tears Ricochet” for use in the movie. Swift did not participate in the film’s production, editing, or decision-making process. The representative emphasizes that Swift’s connection to the film was solely through the song licensing, a common practice with multiple artists involved.
The legal dispute began when Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and unprofessional behavior during the filming of It Ends With Us, leading to a lawsuit being filed by Lively against Baldoni. Baldoni then countersued Lively, seeking substantial damages, claiming defamation and breach of contract.
Swift’s name was brought into the legal drama when Baldoni referenced her verbal support for one of Lively’s script rewrites during a meeting at Lively’s home. However, Swift is not directly involved in the lawsuits and wishes to distance herself from the situation, echoing a sentiment she expressed in a past public feud.
Representatives for Lively and Baldoni have not responded to requests for comment. The ongoing legal battle is set to proceed to trial in March.
