At their wedding in Sayulita, Mexico, Melissa Clark and Dominic Morales devised a clever plan to help single guests connect in real life. The idea was brought to life by their friend and graphic designer, Katie Leppert, who created a special way for singles to mingle.
“We wanted all our single friends from different cities to interact and have a great time, and it was a success,” the couple shared with PEOPLE. “We placed about 25 sheets on each table, with a total of 135 guests present.”
The laminated sheets bore the words “Swipe Right” at the top. One side featured the tagline “Business in the Front,” showcasing the professional LinkedIn profile pictures and names of single guests. The reverse side, dubbed “Party in the Back,” displayed their more casual Instagram images.
While 22 single guests were included on the sheets, a few were excluded due to recent breakups, according to Clark and Morales.
Kelli Washington, one of the single attendees, initially found the gesture amusing and considerate once she understood its purpose. “It was hilarious and thoughtful,” she remarked. “Being single at a wedding can be tough for some, so this made it fun and easy. This was way better than a singles’ table!”
Washington’s TikTok video captured her initial reaction to the sheets, garnering viral attention and positive feedback from viewers. The creative initiative was widely praised as “funny” and “genius.”
The post-wedding video quickly gained traction, accumulating nearly 700,000 views and 70,000 likes in just 24 hours. With over 300 comments, TikTok users commended the couple’s innovative approach to fostering connections among their single guests.
