In the latest episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17, tensions ran high as the queens took part in the hilarious Villains Roast. Arrietty, the most recent contestant to be eliminated, caused a stir by using jokes written by Jewels Sparkles, sparking a conflict between the two. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, fellow contestant Suzie Toot described the dramatic atmosphere on set, with Arrietty and Lexi Love feeling undermined by Jewels’ decisions during the comedy challenge.
Despite the drama, Jewels chose not to immediately address Arrietty’s actions, opting to keep it to herself to prevent it from affecting Arrietty’s journey on the show. Eventually, Arrietty did reveal the truth during filming for the Untucked series, leading to a confrontation between the contestants. The tension spilled over into their real relationships, causing unresolved issues even after Arrietty’s departure from the show.
Suzie mentioned that the conflict had a lasting impact on the group dynamics but emphasized that things have since been resolved. In a lighter moment, she shared a joke she had prepared for the roast involving a Drag Race All Stars icon. Additionally, Suzie discussed Lydia Butthole Kollins, another season 17 contestant, and her romantic involvement with Kori King.
Race queens and an epic Joel McHale guest spot spice up the show: ‘Not your typical sports bar, Joel!’ (exclusive) “You tune in, and they’re practically getting intimate right from episode 1. I noticed it, because initially, and here’s the scoop, exclusive to you, the day before the Monopulence work session, I had actually jotted down in my diary, ‘Maybe I should play up a fake romance with Kori King because I sense she’s interested in me and it could be amusing.’ She was dropping hints my way. Your girl was being deceived!” reveals Suzie.Indica, a drag performer who hosts the Another Party event, also commends Lydia as a representation of the local drag community: “[What] Lydia is showcasing about Pittsburgh drag is that we have a unique charm!” she quips. “On a serious note, what Lydia is spotlighting about Pittsburgh drag is that Pittsburgh is a city that often gets overlooked when considering the major cities. However, some of the most cutting-edge, rebellious, and daring drag performances take place right here.”Catch RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 airing Fridays on MTV.
