Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler have decided to end their relationship after more than three years together. The 23-year-old model and the 33-year-old Oscar-nominated actor went public with their romance in March 2022 but have now chosen to part ways, as confirmed by a source to PEOPLE. TMZ initially reported the news, stating that the couple called it quits towards the end of 2024. It was also noted by the outlet that Austin Butler was notably absent from the Gerber family’s recent vacation in Mexico. Representatives for both Gerber and Butler have not yet provided a response to the news.
Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler first sparked rumors of a relationship in December 2021 when they were spotted attending a yoga session together in Los Angeles. Following several public appearances together, they made their red carpet debut at W Magazine’s annual Best Performances party in March 2022. The duo further fueled speculation by attending the 2022 Met Gala together in May, where they shared a sweet moment and a kiss at the top of the famous Met Museum staircase, despite walking the red carpet separately.
Throughout the 2022-2023 awards season, Gerber showed her support for Butler, particularly during his acclaimed performance in the movie “Elvis.” The couple was seen sharing kisses at the Golden Globes and later attended the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, where Butler was a nominee for Best Actor.

Their relationship continued to flourish, with a source telling PEOPLE in May 2024 that “Kaia and Austin are going strong,” as they affectionately held hands and hugged during a Memorial Day weekend outing in New York City.

Magazine, Gerber opened up about the importance of privacy in their relationship, stating, “Honestly, I feel like so few things in my life are private, and that is one of the things that I try to keep as sacred as possible.” Prior to her relationship with Austin Butler, Kaia Gerber was known to have dated Euphoria actor Jacob Elordi. On the other hand, Austin Butler was in a long-term relationship with High School Musical actress Vanessa Hudgens for eight years before their split in January 2020.
