States on High Alert for Impending Severe Weather Tornado Threats This Week!

“States Remain on Alert as Tornado Threats Continue to Rise”

In a series of severe weather events this month, including powerful storms, snow, and high winds, AccuWeather experts are warning of another significant storm expected before the end of March. The first storm occurred from March 3 to March 5, followed by the second from March 14 to March 16, and the third primarily on March 18 and 19. These storms have resulted in over 220 tornadoes and nearly 1,900 severe weather incidents, such as high winds and hail.

Compared to March 2024, the number of severe weather incidents this month has doubled, with almost four times as many tornadoes. The storm from March 14 to 16 alone produced more tornadoes and severe weather incidents than all of March 2024. It is anticipated that the number of severe weather events, including tornadoes, will continue to increase throughout the month.

The potential for more severe weather is growing over the central United States this weekend. A storm moving southward is expected to bring heavy rain and relief from drought to parts of Texas before joining a larger storm to the west. This larger storm may intensify once the southern system clears, leading to severe weather over the Mississippi Valley depending on various factors.

More than a dozen states are at risk of severe weather on Sunday, with threats ranging from damaging winds to large hail and even tornadoes. The risk may extend into Monday in some eastern areas depending on the storm’s path. Meanwhile, the southwestern part of the storm could bring strong wind gusts, raising the wildfire risk in portions of the southern High Plains.

In the storm’s northern region, a mix of snow and wintry weather is expected, spanning from central Colorado to parts of the Dakotas, Minnesota, and the northern areas of Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, and New England.
