Star Player Sidelined with Mysterious Injury

New York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton will commence the regular season on the injured list due to tendinitis in both elbows. The 35-year-old slugger has refrained from participating in any spring training activities in Tampa, Florida, and has returned to New York as of earlier this week. It is anticipated that Stanton will rejoin the team in the imminent days following PRP injections in both of his elbows.

Stanton, the Most Valuable Player of the 2024 American League Championship Series, struggled with persistent discomfort in his elbows throughout much of the previous season. Nevertheless, he managed to tally 27 home runs and drive in 72 runs across 114 games during the regular season. Demonstrating his prowess in high-stakes games, Stanton recorded seven home runs and 16 RBIs in 55 postseason at-bats as the Yankees advanced to the World Series, ultimately succumbing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games. Noteworthy is Stanton’s remarkable performance in the Fall Classic, where he launched two home runs following a stunning four-homer display against the Cleveland Guardians in the ALCS.

Embarking on his 16th season in the major leagues, Stanton spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Miami Marlins before being acquired by the Yankees ahead of the 2018 season. Accumulating 429 home runs, 1,103 RBIs, and maintaining a .257 batting average across 1,649 career games, Stanton is a five-time All-Star and former National League MVP in 2017 when he set personal bests with 59 homers and 132 RBIs while playing for Miami.

Under contract for three additional seasons as part of a lucrative 13-year, $325 million agreement inked with the Marlins, Stanton’s future with the Yankees remains uncertain beyond the club’s option for the 2028 season.
