Slamdance Unveils 2025 Lineup in Epic Move to Los Angeles!

The 31st Slamdance Film Festival has unveiled its highly-anticipated 2025 lineup, marking a significant shift from its traditional Park City location to the vibrant city of Los Angeles. Scheduled to take place from February 20 to 26, the festival will kick off with an exciting opening night event at The Egyptian Theatre. Throughout the week, film screenings will be held at various esteemed venues, including the Director’s Guild of America and the West Hollywood Quixote buildings.

With a diverse selection of 146 films chosen for the festival, movie buffs can look forward to experiencing a rich tapestry of cinematic creations. Among the lineup, 21 films are set to make their world premieres, showcasing the innovative storytelling and artistic prowess of filmmakers from around the globe. Notably, the selection represents a total of 20 different countries, spanning from Australia and Canada to China, Germany, Greece, Jamaica, Japan, and Norway, among others.

In a bid to champion inclusivity and diversity, this year’s Slamdance lineup features a significant representation of projects helmed by BIPOC creators, amounting to 38% of the total selection. Additionally, a noteworthy 55% of the films were directed by women, underscoring the festival’s commitment to amplifying voices from underrepresented communities.

Slamdance festival director, Taylor Miller, expressed enthusiasm for the festival’s new chapter in Los Angeles, stating, “At this pivotal moment for independent film, Slamdance’s new era in Los Angeles is the perfect home for a 2025 lineup that defies convention, champions bold new voices, and reflects the fearless, independent spirit at our core: by filmmakers, for everyone.”

Diving into the main festival lineup, attendees can immerse themselves in a compelling array of both narrative and documentary features that promise to captivate and inspire audiences. Among the narrative features are titles such as “Alice-Heart” (USA), “Banr” (Canada, China), “Confessions Chin-Chin” (Spain), “Fanboy” (USA), “Four Evil Deeds” (UK), “Gamma Rays” (Canada), “Lockjaw” (USA), “Portal to Hell” (USA), “Under The Burning Sun” (USA), and “Universe 25” (UK, Romania) – each offering a unique storytelling perspective and creative vision.

On the documentary front, audiences can look forward to thought-provoking films like “American Theater” (USA), “Coroner to the Stars” (USA, Portugal), “My Omaha” (USA), “Stolen Kingdom” (USA), “The Big Johnson” (USA), “The Hole Story” (USA), “Twin Fences” (Russia, Ukraine), and “40 Watts from Nowhere” (USA). These documentaries delve into a wide range of subjects, shedding light on compelling narratives and real-life stories that are sure to leave a lasting impact on viewers.
