Sinner’s Shocking Comeback Hamburg Bound After Doping Ban!

ROME (AP) — World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has confirmed his participation in a clay-court tournament in Hamburg, Germany, as part of his preparations for the French Open following the completion of a three-month doping ban in May. The Hamburg Open, scheduled for May 17-24, will be one of Sinner’s stops before he competes at the Italian Open and then returns to his home country for the French Open.

Sinner, a three-time Grand Slam champion, is set to play in Hamburg and Halle, Germany, as his Wimbledon warmup. The Italian, who hails from the German-speaking Alto Adige region of Italy, has gained popularity in Germany due to his success on the court.

This will be Sinner’s first appearance in Hamburg, a tournament typically skipped by top players. He has previously competed in Halle three times, winning the grass-court event last year.

Sinner recently served a ban after reaching a settlement with the World Anti-Doping Agency. The ban will expire on May 4, allowing him to compete in the Italian Open (May 7-18), Hamburg (May 17-24), the French Open (May 25-June 8), Halle (June 16-22), and Wimbledon (June 30-July 13).

In other news, Sinner announced a change in management for his business and sponsorship matters. Alex Vittur of AVIMA Sports & Business Management will now oversee Sinner’s business dealings following the departure of StarWing Sports CEO Lawrence Frankopan, who declined an exclusive role with Sinner.
