A Metropolitan Police officer, Jamie Howlett, 34, formerly of Horley, Surrey, was acquitted of multiple sexual offences following a trial at Guildford Crown Court. The charges against him included five counts of rape, one charge of controlling and coercive behavior, one charge of sexual assault by touching, one charge of sexual assault by penetration, and one charge of assault causing actual bodily harm. Surrey Police confirmed that after a five-day trial, a jury returned a verdict of not guilty on all charges. The investigation, which began in May 2021 and was led by the Sexual Offences Investigation Team, concluded with Howlett pleading not guilty to all nine charges.
