“Sledgehammer Bandits Steal $17M in Watches and Jewelry!
A jewelry heist in Westchester County involving two armed thieves wielding sledgehammers resulted in the theft of $1.7 million worth of jewelry and watches, including 70 Rolexes. The culprits, Kevin Williams, 26, and Byron Wilson, 24, along with two accomplices, drove a stolen vehicle to a shopping plaza in Hartsdale on December 16. Dressed in black and armed with sledgehammers, they entered a jewelry store, smashing display cases and grabbing valuable items in front of terrified customers and employees. The stolen loot, which included diamonds, rings, necklaces, earrings, and luxury watches, was quickly loaded into their stolen Jeep before they fled back to New Jersey. Authorities tracked the criminals using cell phone data, leading to their arrest. Williams and Wilson were charged with federal crimes related to the robbery, each carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. The US Attorney for the Southern District of New York emphasized that such brazen crimes will not go unpunished.”
