The remains of a wanted sex offender were found in a shed near New Hampshire State Prison, officials confirmed. The discovery was made after Concord Police received an anonymous tip on April 21 about a skeleton inside the dilapidated structure across from the prison. The deceased individual was identified as 59-year-old Michael Schilz. According to Concord Police, the body had been in the shed for an extended period of time.
Schilz, a homeless man who was previously featured as the “Fugitive of the Week” by the New Hampshire Department of Corrections in 2023, had been convicted in 2005 of aggravated felonious sexual assault on a minor. His remains were found in the shed, which sits in a spooky location facing North State Street, surrounded by overgrown vegetation and barren trees. The property had a dark history, including a past arson case that was solved in 2018 after being a cold case for many years.
An autopsy was conducted on Schilz’s remains, but the cause of death has not been determined. The discovery shocked employees at a neighboring massage parlor, who expressed disbelief at the eerie find.
