An elderly couple from Cloquet, Minnesota, Jane Korpela and Daniel Latterell, were reported missing after they were last seen together at a gas station near McGregor. A body believed to be Korpela’s was found a month later in a remote wooded area near Aitkin, while Latterell remains missing.
The Cloquet Police Department (CPD) received a breakthrough in the case on June 29 when the couple’s vehicle was discovered near Aitkin, with a deceased individual found nearby. The body, believed to be Korpela’s, was taken for examination. Search efforts for Latterell, including K-9 teams and drones, are ongoing.
Anyone with information on Latterell’s whereabouts is urged to contact the CPD. The couple, described as vulnerable missing adults, were last heard from on May 25. Police have expressed concern for their mental health and safety and are continuing the search for Latterell.
Latterell is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 200 lbs., with hazel eyes. Efforts to locate him are ongoing, and the CPD is actively seeking information from the public.
