Shirley Manson Claps Back at Being Called Unrecognizable at 58 I Still Rock Hard!

Shirley Mason, the 58-year-old lead singer of the rock band Garbage, has responded to recent criticism regarding the band members’ appearance. In a post on Instagram on Sunday, April 13, Mason addressed a Daily Mail article that focused on their looks. She questioned the headline that suggested the band looked unrecognizable in new album promo snaps, pointing out that her male bandmates have maintained their appearance for decades while insinuating that the criticism was directed at her.

Mason, a Scottish musician, emphasized her age and expressed that it would be unnatural to look like her younger self. She rejected the notion that aging should be a source of shame and declared her intention to embrace her appearance as it changes over time. Refusing to be defined by societal expectations, she asserted her confidence and determination to continue rocking out.

Garbage, formed in 1993 in Madison, Wis., includes Mason along with Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Bitch Vig. The band recently announced their eighth studio album, “Let All That We Imagine Be the Light,” set for release on May 30.
