Shampoo Recall Issued Due to Bacteria Contamination Poses Health Risks

Henkel, a leading consumer brands manufacturer, has issued a recall of Tec Italy Totale Shampoo after concerns of potential contamination with Klebsiella oxytoca bacteria. The recall was initiated following microbiological analyses which detected the presence of bacteria in the product. Henkel’s Mexico unit took voluntary action to recall 1,068 units of the shampoo, which had been distributed in New York and California and may have reached other states.

The affected shampoo, packaged in a green plastic 33.81 fluid ounce/1-liter bottle with lot number 1G27542266 and UPC code 7501438375850, poses health risks upon exposure to the bacteria. Possible health effects include eye, nose, and skin infections, particularly for individuals with compromised immune systems. However, no incidents of harm or injury have been reported thus far.

Consumers who have purchased Tec Italy Shampoo Totale are advised to discontinue use immediately and return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. In case of any symptoms or medical concerns related to the recall, individuals are urged to consult a physician promptly. The company, Tec Italy, is dedicated to ensuring consumer satisfaction and is coordinating the recall in collaboration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
