As the coastal storm that impacted the mid-Atlantic and Northeast during the weekend moves out on Sunday, attention now shifts to a fast-moving cold front set to bring severe weather to parts of the Ohio Valley on Monday, marking the start of Easter week. The NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center (SPC) warns that over 28 million people in the region are at risk of severe thunderstorms, with a Level 2 risk issued for more than 9 million people from Kentucky to Pennsylvania.
Cities within the risk zone include Columbus and Cincinnati in Ohio, Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, Charleston in West Virginia, and Lexington in Kentucky. Forecasters anticipate threats of damaging winds, large hail, and the possibility of tornadoes. In Louisville, cleanup efforts are in progress along the Ohio River following significant rainfall earlier in April, just weeks before the Kentucky Derby.
