LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — Swiss midfielder Alvyn Sanches is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining an injury just moments into his international debut, his club Lausanne-Sport announced on Sunday. The 22-year-old’s unfortunate setback is expected to thwart a potential high-profile transfer during the upcoming summer break. The injury occurred when Sanches suffered a knee injury during stoppage time in Switzerland’s 1-1 friendly draw against Northern Ireland last Friday. Lausanne-Sport later confirmed that their standout player has suffered a torn ACL. Sanches had been enjoying a breakout season, featuring in all 28 Swiss Super League matches for Lausanne and finding the net 12 times. The talented player, born in France with Portuguese roots, was a subject of numerous transfer speculations ahead of the end of the season. ___ For more AP soccer coverage: https://apnews.com/hub/soccer
