Selena Gomez Stuns Steve Martin & Martin Short with First-Ever SAG Award Win!

Selena Gomez ensures Steve Martin and Martin Short receive SAG Awards from Only Murders in the Building castmates

Selena Gomez made sure that her Only Murders in the Building co-stars, Steve Martin and Martin Short, received their trophies after missing the 2025 SAG Awards. The Hulu show was honored with the award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series during the ceremony held on February 23. Short, 74, also won his first-ever personal award for outstanding male actor in a comedy series.

Due to being sick with COVID, Short was unable to attend, and Joey King and Jack Quaid accepted the award on his behalf. On March 12, Gomez, 32, surprised her co-stars with their first-time SAG Awards on camera, which was captured by the Only Murders in the Building Instagram account. She presented the awards alongside Michael Cyril Creighton and the show’s co-creator and executive producer, John Hoffman.

Gomez declared, “And the SAG Award goes to Steve Martin and Martin Short,” as she handed the trophies to the men. Short humorously acted overwhelmed by the weight of his awards and delivered a mock acceptance speech, thanking the Academy and teasing about not knowing the crew’s names. Martin confirmed that it was his first SAG Award win.

During the ceremony, Gomez accepted the show’s award on behalf of her absent co-stars and humorously acknowledged their absence in her speech, expressing gratitude to everyone involved in the show.

Short reacted to his win with appreciation, stating, “The honor of being in Only Murders in the Building is the most spectacular compliment anyone could be given. The honor of being awarded by your peers is even greater. Thank you so so much.”
