A man was shot and wounded by Secret Service personnel after they encountered him carrying a firearm near the White House early on Sunday, according to a statement released by the service. The Secret Service had been informed by local police on Saturday about a potentially suicidal individual traveling from Indiana to Washington. Secret Service members located the man’s parked vehicle near 17th and F streets in Washington around midnight, close to the Eisenhower Executive Office Building adjacent to the White House.
