The US Securities and Exchange Commission's decision on ETF applications has been eagerly awaited for a long time. The SEC continued to postpone its decisions on ETF applications until 2024. After postponing Hashdex and Grayscale's ETF applications, the Commission announced that it also postponed its decision on the VanEck Ethereum ETF. Analysts put the likelihood of the SEC approving one or all of the 13 pending spot Bitcoin ETFs in the first ten days of 2024 at 90 percent.

Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin made a confusing move, transferring 500 Ether to Coinbase. The crypto community was quick to react. Some users claimed that Buterin would sell Ether, while others said it could have been a donation.

Ledger, the crypto custody service provider that suffered a cyberattack last week, announced new measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again. Ledger stated that it will not allow devices to work with Blind Signing until June 2024, while integrating the Clear Signing service with decentralized applications.

Digital asset laws carried out by South Korea to protect crypto investors have been renewed and will take effect in July 2024. Before the new crypto laws come into force, South Korea also stated that it plans to get an opinion on regulations from US Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Gary Gensler.
