“Actress Unveils Husband’s Reaction to Intimate Scenes”
Close your eyes, Adam Shapiro. Scandal star Katie Lowes has a blunt message for her husband if he ever feels jealous watching her steamy onscreen escapades. During a chat on Zach Braff and Donald Faison’s comedy podcast, Fake Doctors, Real Friends With Zach and Donald, Lowes dished on her experiences filming intimate scenes on Scandal and how her husband has dealt with it. When asked about any jealousy over her “fake TV sex,” Lowes shared that her husband knew what he signed up for when he married her and that he has had moments of jealousy. However, she humorously dismissed his concerns, stating, “He’s just gotta close his eyes and deal with it, man. I mean, the check clears, you know? Like, get over it. I mean, that’s my job and, like, it’s awkward anyway.”
Lowes acknowledged that her husband’s jealousy was perhaps tempered by the nature of her onscreen partners on Scandal. She mentioned her character Quinn’s love interests, George Newbern and Guillermo Diaz, with whom she filmed intimate scenes. Lowes emphasized that her husband likely felt more secure knowing that Newbern is an older gentleman and that Diaz is openly gay, making the scenarios less threatening.
In the podcast, Lowes also delved into her Broadway debut in Waitress, drawing parallels between the nerves of performing and giving birth. She shared insights on her 18-day preparation for the show, her passion for the TV series Smash, and the success of her side business Schappy Pretzel during the pandemic.
