Shiver, who was previously married to Lindsay Shiver since 2007, made headlines in July 2023 when he survived an alleged murder scheme orchestrated by Lindsay and her purported boyfriend, Terrence Bethel. Lindsay and Bethel, along with alleged hitman Faron Newbold Jr., were arrested in July of that year. Recent court documents obtained by WDHN revealed that Lindsay and Bethel had their bail revoked after participating in several television interviews. The pair subsequently returned to a prison facility in the Bahamas. Lindsay, Bethel, and Newbold Jr. have all pleaded not guilty to the charges against them and are scheduled to appear in court in March 2025.
