KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russian troops in eastern Ukraine have reportedly taken control of the strategic town of Kurakhove following an extended conflict, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Monday. This development marks another territorial gain for Russia in the ongoing conflict that has plagued the region for nearly three years.
The Russian Defense Ministry’s claim went unacknowledged by Ukrainian authorities and came on the heels of an assertion that Ukrainian forces had initiated fresh attacks in Russia’s Kursk border region.
