(Reuters) – Former NFL star Richard Sherman revealed on social media that his house was robbed while his family was present. The ex-Super Bowl champion, known for his career as a defensive back with the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, requested assistance in identifying the culprits.
Sherman shared screenshots showing multiple individuals inside his home, taken the day before his birthday. “Having my house robbed at gunpoint with my family inside is not the kind of birthday present anyone wants,” remarked Sherman, a five-time Pro Bowl player and current analyst for Thursday Night Football. He praised his wife for handling the scary situation and ensuring the safety of their children, while appealing for information to locate the suspects.
This incident follows a warning from the FBI to professional athletes to enhance their security measures, following a series of break-ins at the residences of high-profile players, including NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes. Recently, U.S. prosecutors charged seven individuals believed to be part of a Chilean theft ring responsible for burglarizing the homes of athletes during their games. Some of the stolen items were traced back to the home of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
