Real Madrid Secures Quarterfinal Spot with Thrilling Shootout Victory!

Madrid and PSG Progress in Champions League, Set to Face English Teams

In the Champions League quarterfinals bracket announced on Wednesday, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are set to face more English teams on their journey to the title. Madrid secured a spot in the quarterfinals by defeating city rival Atletico Madrid in a penalty shootout, following Atletico’s 1-0 win that tied the aggregate score at 2-2. Madrid had previously eliminated Manchester City in the knockout playoffs last month.

Defending champion Madrid will now take on Arsenal, who defeated PSV Eindhoven, with the first leg scheduled for April 8 or 9 in London. The return match will be held on April 15 or 16. Meanwhile, PSG, after eliminating top-seeded Liverpool, will face Aston Villa in the quarterfinals, with the first leg to be played in Paris. The winner of this matchup will advance to face either Arsenal or Madrid in the semifinals, potentially setting up a showdown between Kylian Mbappé’s former and current teams.

On the other hand, Borussia Dortmund, led by former star forward Robert Lewandowski, staged a comeback to defeat Lille and will face Barcelona in the quarterfinals, starting in Spain. Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, who both advanced on Tuesday, will meet in a rematch of the 2010 final, won by Inter Milan.

The quarterfinals draw includes the following matchups: Arsenal vs. Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain vs. Aston Villa, Barcelona vs. Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich vs. Inter Milan. The first-leg games will take place on April 8 or 9, with return games scheduled a week later.
