Ravens’ Playoffs Hopes in Limbo After Flowers’ Injury!

BALTIMORE, MD — In a predictable division-clinching victory over Cleveland, the Baltimore Ravens faced a potential setback when their star receiver, Zay Flowers, suffered a knee injury in the second quarter. Coach John Harbaugh remained cautiously optimistic but disclosed that Flowers would undergo an MRI. Despite the setback, the Ravens finished the regular season with a 12-5 record, just one game shy of their league-leading mark in 2023. However, this time they will not have a first-round bye and will enter the playoffs as the No. 3 seed in the AFC.

With the playoffs looming, Flowers, who had an impressive regular season with 74 catches for 1,059 yards and four touchdowns, has limited time to recover. The Ravens made an impressive comeback in the AFC North race, overtaking the Pittsburgh Steelers after trailing by two games with four to play.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry had outstanding individual performances during the regular season, collectively amassing over 6,000 yards, setting a new NFL record for a team with over 4,000 passing yards and over 3,000 rushing yards in a single season.

However, the Ravens’ receiving corps could face challenges if Flowers is sidelined. Depth at the position might be tested, especially if rookie receiver Tylan Wallace needs to step up. On a positive note, defensive tackle Michael Pierce made an impact with his first career interception, showcasing his improved health and readiness.

One area of concern for the Ravens is defensive back Brandon Stephens, who struggled against the Browns and could be targeted in the upcoming playoffs. Despite some injuries during the game, including to Rashod Bateman and Kyle Hamilton, Flowers’ knee injury remains the primary focus for the Ravens as they prepare for the postseason.

The Baltimore Ravens held the Houston Texans to just 211 yards in a dominant 31-2 victory, and then allowed 230 yards against the Cleveland Browns. Their upcoming first-round playoff opponent will be determined by the outcome of the Sunday game between the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders. Depending on the result, the Ravens will either welcome the Chargers or the Pittsburgh Steelers to their home field.
