Stating that the pressure of sanctions on the Russian economy will increase due to the Ukraine War, Putin said, "The fantasies of our partners have reached the level of absurdity with the ban on the import of needles, screwdrivers and similar products to Russia."
Referring to the bedbug infestation that has become a public problem in European capitals in recent months, Putin said, "But the less rubbish, the better. This reduces the risk of bedbugs being imported here from big European cities."
Putin's satirical "bedbug" approach to the sanctions imposed on his country was widely reported in the press in France, which suffers from this insect.
BEDBUG INFESTATION IN FRANCE
Bedbugs, which are frequently found in movie theaters, hospitals and schools, as well as in public transportation such as trains and subways, had become a serious problem in France.
The opposition had called on the government to make a "national action plan" against the insect infestation, emphasizing that this situation "negatively" affected the international image of the country that will host the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The government said it would submit a bill to the National Assembly to fight bedbugs.
Following France, bedbugs were also seen in Greece.
