Popular Kitchen Appliance Recall Issued by Leading Retailers

If you’ve recently upgraded your kitchen with a sleek new appliance from a major retailer within the last decade, we have some important news for you. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has just announced a recall affecting over 500,000 LG electric stoves that were sold at prominent stores such as Best Buy, Lowe’s, Costco, Home Depot, LG.com (online), and various other appliance retailers.

The stoves being recalled include LG Slide-In and Freestanding Ranges, which have been linked to nearly 30 house fires across the country over the past ten years. The primary issue with these stoves is the front-mounted knobs that can be easily turned on accidentally, posing a safety hazard for both individuals and pets.

Since 2015 up to January 2025, there have been a total of 86 reported incidents related to these stoves being inadvertently activated, leading to property damage exceeding $340,000 from at least five fires. Tragically, three of these fires resulted in the loss of pets, while eight minor injuries, including burns, have been reported.

LG has identified three specific models of the recalled stoves. To determine if your LG stove is part of this recall, check the model number located either in the storage drawer at the bottom of the appliance or inside the oven door. The affected model numbers include:

– LDE4411ST
– LDE4413ST
– LDE4413BD
– LSE4611ST
– LSE4611BD
– LSE4613ST
– LSE4613BD
– LSEL6337D
– LSEL6337F
– LSEL6331F
– LSEL6333F
– LSEL6333D
– LSEL6335D
– LSEL6335F
– LTE4815BM
– LTE4815BD
– LTE4815ST
– LRE4215ST
– LTEL7337F

For a comprehensive list of serial numbers, visit the dedicated page provided by LG. If your stove’s model number matches the ones listed, LG advises customers to contact them directly for a complimentary warning label and instructions on where to affix it. The company also recommends acquainting yourself with the Control Lock or Lock Out feature on the control panel of the stove, which can prevent the heating elements from being activated when the range is not in use.

To ensure the safety of your household in the interim, both the Consumer Product Safety Commission and LG have offered some essential safety tips to reduce the risk of kitchen fires. Keep children and pets away from the stove, always double-check that the range knobs are turned off before leaving the house, going on vacation, or going to bed, and avoid storing any items on top of the stove when it is not in use as a precautionary measure.
