Polls show opinions on Iran! How do Trump’s approval ratings compare to past presidents

President Donald Trump’s approval rating has remained relatively stable in recent weeks, but two new polls released after his decision to conduct airstrikes on multiple nuclear sites in Iran are shedding light on how the conflict may be influencing Americans’ perceptions of his performance. The polls indicate that Trump’s approval rating stands at 41%, slightly below the average of 45% seen in June. In contrast, a recent CNN/SSRS survey revealed that a majority of Americans disapprove of the president’s actions in Iran.

Since returning to the White House, Trump has implemented a series of controversial executive orders that have generated significant debate. His approval ratings during this term have been historically low by various standards. Recent polling data from the New York Times shows Trump with a 44% approval rating as of June 27, with 52% expressing disapproval of his job performance. Other sources, such as Nate Silver’s “Silver Bulletin” newsletter and RealClearPolitics, offer slightly differing figures, with approval ratings ranging from 45% to 47% and disapproval ratings from 51% to 52%.

A Quinnipiac University poll released on June 26 indicated that 41% of respondents approved of Trump’s leadership, while 54% disapproved. This marks a slight increase from Quinnipiac’s previous poll on June 11, where approval was at 38% and disapproval at 54%. The survey also revealed that respondents gave Trump mixed ratings on his handling of key issues.

In light of the conflict with Iran, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed Trump with a 41% approval rating, the lowest recorded in his second term and down one point from earlier in the month. The survey, conducted after the U.S. airstrikes in Iran, highlighted concerns among respondents, with 84% expressing worry about the situation. Additionally, opinions on Trump’s economic and foreign policy stances saw a decline.

When comparing Trump’s approval ratings to those of previous presidents in their first years in office, data from Gallup illustrates that Trump’s ratings in June of his first years as the 45th and 47th presidents are lower than those of his predecessors. A Gallup poll conducted in early June showed a 40% approval rating for Trump, contrasting with figures from other presidents at similar points in their terms.
