In Phoenix, Arizona, police officers rescued a baby who had been left alone in an apartment for days after the infant’s mother passed away. The officials shared that they received a call from a concerned neighbor on May 14, reporting that a woman who had recently given birth had not been seen or heard from in days. Bodycam footage from the Phoenix Police Department captured the officers peering through the apartment’s unlocked window, where they spotted the woman on the floor. They quickly entered the apartment, finding the baby on the bed in a severely malnourished state. The officers carefully placed the baby in a stroller and handed the child over to another rescuer before the Phoenix Fire Department personnel took the baby to a hospital for urgent medical attention. Fortunately, the baby is expected to recover fully. The cause of the mother’s death is currently under investigation by the Maricopa County medical examiner’s office, and no further details have been released at this time.
