A pet lion escaped from a house in Lahore, Pakistan, jumping a wall and attacking a woman and two children. The owners of the lion have been arrested. The incident occurred in the neighborhood of Johan town, where the lion leaped over a concrete wall and pounced on the woman, knocking her down. Security camera footage captured the event, showing a man chasing the lion away from the woman. The children were also attacked, sustaining injuries to their faces and arms, but are now in stable condition. The lion was recaptured and transferred to Wildlife authorities. Three people were arrested in connection with the incident. The owner did not have a license to keep the lion and may face legal consequences under the Wildlife Act. Owning wild cats without a license is common in Pakistan, but regulations require proper permits and keeping large cats outside city limits. The government has announced a crackdown on illegal lion ownership in the province.
