Longo, who garnered national attention following the loss of P’Nut, has found solace in his new furry companion. The footage captures precious moments of their bond, signaling a fresh chapter for Longo and his family as they continue to heal.
Longo and his wife, Daniela Bittner, welcomed Howard, a Miniature Dachshund, into their home two weeks ago after adopting him from a neighbor. Initially hesitant, the couple quickly found comfort in the puppy’s playful spirit and affectionate demeanor, which have helped ease the pain of losing P’Nut. Longo even remarked that Howard reminds him of P’Nut, suggesting he could be the squirrel’s “reincarnated version.”
P’Nut became a symbol of controversy after a government raid led to his tragic passing, along with the euthanization of Longo’s pet raccoon, Fred. The incident stirred national outrage, with Longo disputing claims that the animals posed a rabies risk. Since bringing Howard into their lives, Longo has experienced newfound joy, with the puppy’s antics reminiscent of the bond he shared with P’Nut.
While Howard, affectionately known as “Howie,” has brought happiness, Longo acknowledges that no pet can replace P’Nut.
