Rudd has played the role of Ant-Man in four Marvel films, starting with the 2015 movie ‘Ant-Man.’ The franchise has since expanded to include sequels and crossovers, ultimately leading Rudd to appear in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in 2019. Despite his Marvel credits, not all actors from Marvel films have been part of the Avengers team on screen, showcasing the diverse paths characters can take within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While Rudd has embraced his role as Ant-Man, other Marvel characters like Daredevil and the X-Men have remained distinct from the Avengers in film adaptations due to various reasons, including intellectual property rights and storyline choices. Appearing in the upcoming MCU film “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” two “Ghostbusters” films, the Andrew DeYoung comedy “Friendship,” and the TV series “Only Murders in the Building,” Paul Rudd referred to as the “Mount Rushmore” of comedy. In a 2023 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rudd expressed his astonishment, saying, “Surreal doesn’t even cover it. For a comedy fan like myself, working with Martin Short and Steve Martin is like being on Mount Rushmore. I mean, truly hero worship. To have the opportunity to collaborate with them, I still can’t believe it.”
