On Star Wars Day, the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals showcased some impressive power at Camden Yards. They collectively hit a total of 10 solo home runs in a single game, tying a Major League Baseball record. The Royals ultimately secured an 11-6 victory over the struggling Orioles, with Maikel Garcia and Jackson Holliday each contributing two solo home runs. The intense battle led Orioles announcer Kevin Brown to humorously comment that the teams were “putting the tattoo in Tattooine,” making several Star Wars references throughout the day. Cedric Mullins and Ryan O’Hearn of the Orioles, as well as Jonathan India, Bobby Witt Jr., Vinnie Pasquantino, and Luke Maile of the Royals, also joined in on the home run frenzy. In the top of the ninth inning, Royals’ second baseman Michael Massey hit the 11th home run of the game with a runner on base, ending the streak of consecutive solo shots and setting a franchise single-game record with seven homers. Maikel Garcia of the Royals hit one of his solo home runs in the May 4 game against the Orioles in Baltimore.
