Oneil Cruz’s Explosive Performance Leads Pirates to 12-1 Victory Over Mets!

On Sunday, the Pittsburgh Pirates completed a three-game sweep of the New York Mets with a dominant 12-1 victory. Oneil Cruz broke a 14-game homerless streak by hitting two two-run homers, while Tommy Pham and Bryan Reynolds also contributed with home runs. The Pirates scored all of their runs in the first inning, led by Ke’Bryan Hayes’ two-run single and back-to-back homers by Cruz and Pham. The Mets, who had a players-only meeting after a tough loss the day before, suffered their 13th loss in 16 games. The Pirates’ offense has been on fire, scoring 48 runs in their last seven games and at least nine runs in three consecutive games for the first time since 2019. Pittsburgh’s Carmen Mlodzinski earned the win by pitching 3 2/3 solid innings in relief, while starter Mike Burrows allowed only one run in 4 1/3 innings. The Mets will face the Brewers next, with Clay Holmes starting for New York and Freddy Peralta for Milwaukee. The Pirates will take on the Cardinals, with Andrew Heaney on the mound for Pittsburgh and Erick Fedde for St. Louis.
