A shooting incident occurred in the Bronx on Friday afternoon involving a mini school bus carrying students with special needs. Law enforcement sources reported that the bus, transporting eight students aged 5 to 9, was fired upon while traveling near East 165th Street and Trinity Avenue in the Forest Houses neighborhood. The bus was hit by at least two gunshots, with one bullet breaking a window and another striking the side of the vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Authorities believe that the bus was not the intended target of the shooting and are investigating possible ties to gang activity. Witnesses mentioned seeing at least four teenagers fleeing the scene. A bus monitor onboard the bus during the incident reported that two groups were involved in the shooting, prompting her to protect the children by pushing them to the floor and shielding them.
Despite the gunfire, the bus driver continued to drive until ensuring the safety of the vehicle. As of Friday night, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
