Nurse Arrested for Alleged Friend’s Murder for Insurance Payout!

A Utah nurse is alleged to have caused the death of her friend by falsely convincing her that she had cancer, allowing the nurse to profit from the victim’s life insurance policy. Kacee Lyn Terry, 38, passed away on August 15, shortly after emergency responders found her struggling to breathe in her Highland home. Meggan Randall Sundwall, 47, a licensed nurse, was arrested on charges of aggravated murder and obstruction of justice related to her friend’s death.

Terry’s autopsy revealed an overdose of insulin and promethazine, despite her not being diabetic. Sundwall allegedly orchestrated a scheme spanning several years to deceive Terry into believing she was terminally ill and to administer fatal medication. The motive behind Sundwall’s actions appeared to be financial, as she sought to profit from a substantial life insurance policy belonging to Terry.

Police discovered a series of incriminating text messages exchanged between Sundwall and Terry, outlining plans for Terry’s demise and the subsequent insurance payout. Moreover, Sundwall had reportedly sent a message to Terry on the day of her death, suggesting sedation prior to the fatal event. Terry was found unresponsive at her residence alongside Sundwall, who claimed Terry had a do-not-resuscitate (DNR) order.

However, further investigation revealed that Terry was in good health and did not have cancer as claimed by Sundwall. Sundwall is currently in custody at Utah County Jail on the aforementioned charges. No information was provided regarding legal representation for her. The incident took place in Highland, a city located south of Salt Lake City in Utah.
